Needed: Volunteers to Help Cook Up Some Help for the Mustard Seed
From the Mustard Seed:
A month and a half ago we started a pilot project with Westwood Manor, to help some of the residents there get better access to good food. Many of the residents at Westwood have been successfully cooking and caring for themselves in their own apartments, however a few of the residents have faced some challenges and barriers that have prevented them from being able to cook and eat enough healthy food. Out of this problem came the idea of Heat & Eat – a meal prep program, where volunteers prepare healthy meals that residents can store in their freezer and heat easily in a microwave. Twice a month, volunteers have been gathering to cook soups, chili’s, and other meals, package them up, and deliver them to Westwood residents who need them. Residents contribute $100 a month to cover the cost of ingredients.
We are in need of volunteers in order for the program to continue and we would like your help.
Would you be willing to share this opportunity with your friends, family, siblings, parents, church, small groups, sports teams? We are looking for individuals or small groups to come cook with us on the following dates – the time commitment is 4-5 hours, on an evening or a weekend, there is a suggested donation of $300, however, this is not essential and we are still in need of volunteers even if they can’t make a donation for the operations cost of the program.
There are 4 upcoming dates that we are looking for help with:
Saturday Aug 12 – morning or afternoon
Tuesday Aug 22 in the evening
Saturday Sept 9 – morning or afternoon
Tuesday Sept 26 in the evening
Would you share this opportunity around?
Thanks in advance for your help!
